DRUG SMUGGLING ALERTS ARE IGNORED EVERY DAY-- Updated 25 June 2014

UPDATE: 25 June, 2014  -- Now we know why.  The National Statics stated that the Treasury are making £10billion on prostitutions and drugs trade. The Chancellor George Osborne is so desperate to prove the economy is improving that he told them to include it.  In my opinion that is really low for not fighting the drugs trade but to include it as economy improvement. Drugs caused nothing but crimes and death of young people.

A report in the Daily Mirror pointed out those 2,000 smuggling alerts are being ignored every day in border shambles. Most would be drug smuggling.

This is an incredible and unacceptable situation which is practically ignored by Home Secretary Theresa May.  2,000 a day alerts are far too damning to be ignored.  They might just as well open the borders and safe the cost of border guards and customs officers.

It was revealed also that officials at the National Border Targeting Centre deleted 649,000 warnings without even reading.  It only came to light when a more than well known criminal came up on the Government’s  e-borders system which checks all incoming passengers whether they come by plane or ferries.  The system supposed to alert the customs officers of crooks.

Chief Inspector of Borders John Vine contemned the sloppy and irresponsible the officials handle this information. He admitted that it would “have had a significant impact on the ability of staff at the border to seize prohibited goods.”

Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said that the Home Secretary need to stop drug-smuggling information being deleted and get the proper border controls in place, rather than relying on divisive gimmicks like ad vans instead. Ms Cooper demanded further that Ms May must urgently explain “why hundreds of thousands of possible drug-smuggling records were deleted in 2012. It is an outrage drug smugglers have been able to get away with it because basic information was not acted on.”

Mr Vine also pointed out that “the £500million e-borders systems, introduced in 2007, had failed to hit its target. Despite being in development for over a decade and costing over a half a billion pounds, the e-borders programme has yet to deliver many of the anticipated benefits.”

The head of the Home Affairs Select Committee, Labour MP Keith Vaz also criticised the Home Office.
Tory Immigration Minister Mark Harper commented that the Border Force is making significant improvements in its performance. Border Force was established in 2011 after too many scandals about the UK Border Agency were published.  Although it sounds like a white wash but it is only to be hoped the Border Force will be significant improvement since the UK Border Agency was nothing but a shamble for years until the Ms May under too great a pressure was forced to stop the contract. Let us hope this was not only a smoke screen to quiet the press and people. By this report for 2012 of the Daily Mirror it had not the desire effect so far since the Border Force was established already in 2011.

Silk Road is one of the world’s biggest drugs dealing websites.  Ross Ulbricht, 29, from San Francisco was arrested last week and the allegation is that he is the founder for the online market place for secret drug deals.  A probe into the website four Britons were arrested. Three men in their 20s in Manchester and one in his 50s in Devon. The allegation is supplying controlled drugs.

If this is a result of just one probe it is an absolute crime for officials to eliminate 2,000 information a day.  The general public is always urged to give information about any possible crime and to receive such an amount would be the greatest help to cut down drugs trafficking and dealings which causes a lot of crimes and heartache when a young victim dies. It would stop a lot of gangs which again causes a lot of criminal activities.

It also causes the public not to report any more. These officials do not realise the impact their elimination has.  They were given such a great weapon to cut down on crime and all they have to do to pass on the message to the Border Force.  Is that so hard to do?  Also the Home Secretary Theresa May is always found sitting on her hands when there is a scandal breaking lose.

ILLEGAL DRUG TRAFFICKING IS GROWING OUT OF PROPORTION AND THERESA MAY WILL NOT FORCE HER OFFICIALS TO USE SUCH A USEFUL TOOL. WHY?
