NEWS ON PHONE HACKING SCANDAL -- Update 26 June, 2014

REBEKAH BROOKS
UPDATE:  26 June 2014 --  The verdict was Rebekah Brooks is cleared of all charges. How much the family of the Milli Dowler feel? How can that happen? She was an Editor and an Editor has the final check what goes into the paper.  Also it should not been allowed that David Cameron's brother was on the defence team.

The Leveson inquiry was a "white wash" and now this verdict which nobody in the land will buy it. Of course, Coulson and the other will be sentenced  Their career be destroyed and their families.

UPDATE:  17 April. 2014 -- The Court case is on for weeks and Rebekah Brooks, Editor, and Andy Coulson, Editor, both deny knowledge of phone hacking of the murdered school girl Milly Dowler.  Coulson admits he should have paid more attention to what was going on. He was in charge when Rebekah Brooks was away and private investigator Glenn Mulcaire was hacking Milly Dowler's phone.

Brooks and Coulson deny conspiracy to hack phones and other charges.  In  my opinion they were both editors which means checking out.  Trial continues.

UPDATE:  4 October 2013  - September has come and gone but no news about the trial or did with miss it? Is there a news blackout?

UPDATE 18 OCTOBER 2012 ---  Brooks supposed to have appeared at the end of the month but now has been delayed till September next year. W H Y?  Surely the inquiry and investigation has been going on long enough. They must have all the information together by now. Is there a hope growing that the public might forget and Brooks, Coulson and the rest of them quietly fade away?

Even the Prime Minister David Cameron forgotten his promise on transparency and kept the emails between him Brooks and Coulson from the Levenson Inquiry.

Rebekah Brooks who was the editor of the News of the World was yesterday in court and was being charged with plotting to hack into the voicemail of the murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler. Mrs Brooks was the only one in the dock. She wore a navy blue jacket and skirt. During the few minutes hearing at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London she only had to confirm her name, address and date of birth.

MURDERED SCHOOLGIRL MILLY DOWLER

The court ordered her not to contact the rest of the ex-employees of the News of the Word. They all will have to appear at the Southwark Crown Court at the end of the month. Mrs Brooks will also have to appear in court regard the alleged conspired to pervert the cause of justice.

Her general charge given yesterday, could amount to 600 victims and another two charges referring to the murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler and ex-union boss Andrew Gilchrist. This is the worst of all their hacking because Milly was missing for a long time and to hack her voicemail and it was said the messages were eliminated is the lowest deed someone can stoop to. Brooks might not have done it but as an editor must have realised it because she was responsible what goes into print. So no pleading innocence.

.
The accused are Mrs Rebekah Brooks ex-editor of the closed-down News of the World, private investigator Glen Malcaire, Andy Coulson former editor and spin-doctor for David Cameron, former managing editor Stuart Kuttner, former news editor Greg Miskiw, and former head of news Ian Edmondson, ex-chief reporter James Weatherup.

Brooks had been released on bail.

They face charges of conspiracy to intercept voicemail between October 3, 2000 and August 9, 2006.

Coulson, Brooks, chief reporter Neville Thurlbeck, ex-managing editor Stuart Kuttner and former executive Greg Miskiw are accused of hacking Milly’s phone and others.

The paper’s ex-head Ian Edmondson and former executive James Weatherup were charged with phone hacking of famous people but not with Milly’s phone hacking. Their accusations were of hacking voicemail messages of well-known people. The prosecution stated that there more than 600.

Some of the alleged charges were politions Lord Prescott, Dame Tessa Jowell and Mark Oaten. Stars were Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jude Law, Stenna Miller, Sadie Frost, Sir Paul McCartney, Heather Mills and footballer Wayne Rooney.

Others were celebrity chef Delia Smith, 7/7 London bomber survivor Prof John Tulloch, George Best’s son Calum and Sven Goran Eriksson.

Police stated that Coulson, Thurlbeck, Edmonson, Weatherup, Kuttner and Miskiw appeared at the police station and were charged with conspiracy to intercept communications without lawful authority from October, 2000 to August 9, 2006. Mulcaire was not charged for legal reasons. However, he was charged for four other offenders and one involving Milly’s phone.

A Met police spokesman said: “Rebekah Brooks had been rebailed to return to a South London police station on a date in early August and has not therefore been charged today.”

The date of August 16 was set aside at the Westminster magistrate’s court in Central London for the eight accused to appear there. If convicted they could face up to two years in prison.

Mrs Brooks issued a statement strait away that she is innocence. Mrs Brooks and her husband are close friend of David Cameron and her husband goes horse riding with Mr Cameron.

Mrs Brooks said: “I am not guilty of these charges.

“I did not authorise, nor was I aware of, phone hacking under my editorship.

“I am distressed and angry that the CPS has reached this decision when they knew all the facts and were in a position to stop the case at this stage.

“The charge concerning Milly Dowler is particular upsetting not only as it is untrue but also because I have spent my journalistic career campaigning for victims of crimes. I will vigorously defend these allegations.”

Brooks also faces three counts of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.  Mrs Brooks and her husband who is a race horse trainer, are accused of the same offence have to appear at Southwark crown court in London on September 26.

Downing Street did, for once, not comment regarding the charges made on Friday.  Wow, that makes a change – no comments – no white washing.

Lord Justice Leveson headed a public inquiry and it ended after 97 days, on Friday. It was held at the Royal Courts of Justice in Central London. He will produce his report as soon as possible.
