ENERGY TARIFFS INCREASE PROVES TORIES USELESSNESS Update 5 Oct., 2017

PM May Equal Society!!!!

Update 5 Oct., 2017 - Again May promised to cap energy's prices and it is a joke after all the prices increased. What was she and her big cabinet doing since June, 2016????

There were two price rises since of 10 per cent  (SSE even 15 per cent) now because her chair starts seriously to wobble she tries to save herself with another promise, most probably empty, of a cap which is too late to be effective.

May promised, in GE2017, to cap energy prices but  now there is no sign of it.

Update 28 June, 2017 --
SSE announced a 15 per cent tariff increase. Again Government are conveniently overlooking it and do nothing but cut the Welfare by £12bn.

Update 8 Feb., 2017 --
British Gas announced a 9 per cent price rise. Profit already increased by 31 per cent within last 12 months to £574million but PM May will not do anything to stop them or the other energy providers.

The above picture should never happened in the UK being the sixth richest country and in the 21st Century.  There are three million poverty-stricken families have to live like that.

What must the mother or parents feel having to bring up their children like that?

Now, an announcement was made that NPower will increase the prices by nearly 10 per cent which also means that the rest of the big energy suppliers will not stay behind.

NPower made a profit of £67million in the first half of 2016, It seems that it is not enough for shareholders’ and Npower’s greed. It is the price for privatisation introduced by Margaret Thatcher and still going on.

This is now the fourth time of a 10 percent increase every winter and the Tory government just stands by and does nothing. After all they are all their friends and donors and Theresa May trumped about, at the beginning of the year, she will create an “Equal Society”.

Well, there is now a moment where she could prove she meant what she was saying but she won’t.

For the last five years, people are nothing but struggling because of the introduction of austerity. Then came on top of it the constant increase of 10 per cent energy prices every winter. People now have to choose between buying food or heating their homes but the Government does not seem to be concerned and turns a blind eye to it.

The first time, when the 10 per cent increase was announced, people besieged David Cameron to stop it because they just cannot pay the bills, especially the old age pensioners and disabled people. David Cameron did nothing because they were all shareholders and would not get as much as they got.

There are families who lose their homes because they cannot pay the bills anymore; at least 2,500 known cases committed suicide; 40,000 people died of hyperthermia; three million people live in poverty; over 1,000 food bank have been created all due to the Tory Government.

In April, 2017 the new benefit cuts will come into force. Where disabled people will be cut from £102 to £73 while the Elite lives in all the luxury there is.

The Government pays £100million to Turkey; £100billion for Trident;  so far estimated £40billion for HS2; £4million for Parliament’s catering alone and billions and millions of many other projects.

PM May does not want to know what it will do to already starving, homeless people?

Yet she is talking about creating an “Equal Society”; soon after the energy prices increase by 10 per cent the Welfare cuts come into force. It will have a terrible effect on already desperate people.

GAS PERKS REFUSED AND ELECTRICITY PRICE INCREASES

Update 15 August, 2020 -- 8 years on nothing has improved on the contrary its gone worst. After Cameron came May and now Johnson. By now 130,000 people, mostly OAP, have died of hyperthermia; 60,000 of CV19 because Johnson did not react and put necessary measures in straightaway; now we facing massive job losses, home evictions and recession. Johnson put the final nail into the coffin.

UPDATE 13 OCTOBER 2012  --  Npower will follow suits with 8.8 per cent and now the customers have no choice but pay and pay. This is nothing but racketeering. All big energy suppliers had bit profits last year and therefore there was no need for those massive increase.  Chancellor George Osborne made a big noise and show attacking the energy suppliers but other than that the government does nothing against them.  Also what is Ofgem getting paid for? They never do any

thing.

To crown it all it would be no surprise if the government cuts the winter fuel supplements now.

IS THAT WHAT DAVID CAMERON CALLS TO CREATE AN ASPIRATION NATION ?????

UPDATE 12 OCTOBER 2012 -- I only just stopped writing and there come the news of an increase of six or seven per cent in crease on gas.  Last year only it was increase by 10 per cent despite David Cameron had a meeting with the gas and electricity board promising he would make them hold the price. This government cannot cut wages, benefits and let the gas, electricity, food and petrol prices spiral sky high. How do they think people cope with and where they get the money from to pay for it all?

Next thing we read about the huge profits they made and bonuses they paid to their fat cats.

British Gas gives staff a £200 perk on their bill. The whole top management has decided to turn down the perk and hope their top rivals will do the same. Although it wont’ be missed with an income of £1.3million a year for the chief executive Mr Sam Laidlow, his finance chief Nick Luff and British Gas managing director Phil Bently, their salaries are unknown but surely not far behind.

They feel like it is not necessary to receive this perk at the time of austerity. Although it is a drop in the ocean for the Centrica’s board but nevertheless a nice gesture. The rest of staff is still receiving their perk. The insiders pointing out it would still give the wrong impression.

Southern Electricity on the other hand will increase their prices from 15 October 2012 by 10 per cent. Furthermore, Ian Marchant refused to give up his staff discount in spite of receiving a salary of £1.2million last year. His bill will be cut by 12 per cent in spite of his huge salary; the customers will have to face another huge electricity price rise.

Mr Marchant commented that he thinks to donate his perk back to the company wouldn’t be very sensible.
Npower gives the staff £100 vouchers but wouldn’t comment whether the board members would take it this year.

E.ON stated that their chief executive Tony Cocker does not take the staff reward.

Scottish Power does not give their staff a discount scheme.

EDF Energy gives their staff £48 off their bills but couldn’t say if their chief executive took it.

Admirable as the refusal of the perks is but it is only a small contribution towards the company. The real impact is the bonuses for the top management and some of the staff which really adds on. Surely with around one million of pound a year salary it would be well paid for their work. There is no need for bonuses on top of it especially at hard times as they are at the moment. David Cameron always preaches austerity but he never whispers to cut the bonuses or stops them because most of them are his friends who donate to the Conservative Part which soon be rivalling with Fort Knox.

This austerity the ordinary people imposed by David Cameron and his Conservative Party is all wrong while the fat cats getting millions of salaries and bonuses. Again he does nothing to stop the increase of electricity. People already had problems to pay the bills and now a increase of 10 per cent will hit them hard and many will not be able to pay it. There is no need to aim for greater profits apart from the bosses get more bonus and the shareholders more dividends.

ENERGY CIVIL SERVANTS BONUS 2012

Ever since this Coalition came to power there is nothing but increase of food, VAT, council tax, petrol, gas and electricity bills but they straight away the reduced the minimum wage which companies were delighted to follow, on the basis take or leave it. It is definitely not improving the economy as it shows the third recession this year. What are they trying to head for?

Another dirty trick, the government sits calmly back and let it happen.  Also another typical case of them and us. The high ranking energy civil servants are getting a bonus of £1m.

There was also an increase of their bonuses from £825,648 in 2010 and to £958,783 in 2011.

No matter how the public is complaining including some ministers the government will just not do anything about it. The whole idea of having a government is to control it all this. They have enough departments which supposed to be responsible to stop any overcharges and price rises but none ever do anything effective.

David Cameron made a great issue of a meeting with all the energy suppliers last year to force them to bring the prices down. Not only nothing happened afterwards but as a matter of fact the prices went up.

Now we even find out that the top energy civil servants are getting a bonus. First of all they don’t deserve any bonus because they just doing their job and they receive a salary. Secondly it is again only the top energy civil service, we were advised, and the lower ranking or office workers do not. W H Y?

The country is now in the third term of the recession and the ordinary families are more than struggling, especially with the sky high gas and electricity bills. Furthermore, it was already promised that there will be more rises in energy’s bills. The households have already been hit by an average of £200 increase.

Furthermore, the government is planning to stop the winter fuel supplement for pensioners. A generation who fought like hell for this country to prevent Hitler invading.  They deserve everything now to lead a worry free life in their last few years but what do they get from this Coalition all the benefits taken away.

THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

Furthermore, the government thought of some more cuts but now they call it replacements which they try to hood-wing us hoping the public will not notice it.

The £1.1billion grant scheme will be replaced with a £540million towards cutting bills. They really must be thinking the public is stupid but it only shows their arrogant attitude.  Ministers even had the audacity stating the Energy Company Obligation is more an efficient way to help the poor. Well even the biggest bucket of white paint will not white wash this.

IT  IS  ANOTHER  CUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BRITISH GAS ON RECORD PROFIT ALREADY IN 2012

A forecast assumes that British Gas will have its profit improved by 33 per cent. The biggest supplier of gas will have made a £350million in the first six months of the year.

Its parent company Centrica will have made a profit of £1.45billion and this is an increase of 15 per cent on the same period in 2011.

In spite of having used more domestic energy because of the weather keeping longer cold than normally but it doesn’t explain the 33 per cent and 15 per cent increase on profits. This comes from increasing the prices and they have been increased.

A few percentages would have been acceptable but 13 per cent on electricity and 33 per cent on gas is criminal in an economical recession. Again this would be where the government should step in but not a word or stopping it. Last year David Cameron had a meeting with Gas and Electricity companies and he promised to get them to reduce the prices in view of the situation.

INSTEAD OF A REDUCTION THERE IS NOW SHOWING A SKY HIGH INCREASE.

British gas promised to reduce electricity prices by 5 per cent in January. In spite of looking ungrateful but this reduction of 5 per cent was after a 16 per cent rise on electricity and 18 per cent rise on gas in the previous August.  Do we now jump up and down?

At the end of the financial year Centrica should have made £2.8billion and British Gas about £590million. Centrica will point out that they invested £1.5billion to make sure there are new supplies.

But Richard Hall, of watchdog Consumer Focus, said: “Consumers are facing historically high energy bills which focus their attention on whether pricing is fair.

“Whole prices rose a little earlier in the year but are now falling. We have long questioned whether drops in wholesale costs find their way to household bills.”

This is all very well said but what will done? Something has to be done because people can’t pay high energy prices and get their wages reduced, lose benefits and/or lose their jobs.

There are quite a number of watchdogs out there studying all these price rises and putting all these statistics together and seeing that they charged over the moon but not one is doing anything drastically about it. Sorry, to have to ask the question: “So what are they really there fore?” Surely if all those watchdogs would get together and pressure the government some result must come out of it.
