HURRICANE KATRINA DEVASTED NEW ORLEANS 10 YEARS AGO

Ten years ago one of the most ferocious hurricanes crossed Florida and headed for New Orleans in 2005. 

It was well forecasted and President Bush should have organised an evacuation. He failed the people and over 2,000 people lost their lives. Even after the catastrophe help with clean water and food was not as quickly as it should have been. 80 per cent of the New Orleans was under water.

After all these failures it makes one asked how on earth has he got the nerve to go there for the 10^th anniversary?

Even the reconstruction of the town was mainly due to President Obama. Businesses emerged again and tourist started coming to visit the famous city for its jazz music, unique food and party culture.

During the last years President Obama visited the city nine times also when he was campaigning for the presidency in 2008 and criticised the Bush administration.

On the Anniversary, President Obama visited the Lower Ninth Ward on Thursday. The residents are mostly African-Americans and still recovering from the disaster. 

The community centre stands out as a symbol of the extra ordinary resilience of this city and its people.  Two British tourists who were caught up in it stated, when they came back, that the tension in the community centre was unbearably.  They were scared that the light would fail and the place became the scene of mass murder and robbery.  Luckily the light kept on.

The radio station WW2 kept a running commentary during the storm approaching Florida and claimed nine lives so far. It picked up strength and was predicted to head towards Florida panhandle, the north-west strip of the state.  Dave from the radio station thought the worst of the weather was over.  He told his team “we can stand down and stay off high alert from now on.”

But 72 hours later New Orleans was under water.

Even after the disaster there were desperate calls for food and safe water for days.

Bush administration failed these people terribly. 

It is another disaster when UK people were giving freely and millions of pounds were collected but apparently never reached the needy. Again these people must be thinking the world did not care but collection was put out all over the world and ordinary people gave with a good heart.  Question should be asked what happened to the money. It should be found and given to the people it was intended for and still struggling to rebuild their lives.

Today the £12bn comes into affect; sanctioned by PM May. At the same time she gave PMs a 12 percent pay rise.

This £12bn Welfare cut comes now on top of already starving, homeless poor and disabled people.

Has PM May any conscience at all?

After the House of Lords rejected the first bill of £12billion Welfare cuts the Chancellor George Osborne  will now put it through as a 'reform'  and calls it 'Global Credit'. 

Nothing short of another dirty trick to run the poor and vulnerable still further into the ground.

It is a disgrace for the Tories still insisting to modernise the Tridents for a cost of £167billion and eventually reaching £200billion. The first estimated cost was £95billion.A weapon which will never be used. 

Yet they are determined to cut £12billion on Welfare.

It is a disgrace for Labour  and especially for Harriet Harman, stand-in leader, to agree with the budget.  SNP also criticised their decision. 

Labour supposed to be an opposition and they agree with a budget like that which will be nothing but devastating  for the general public. A public which is already relying on food banks  People who have committed suicide because they could not see how to go on any more and Harriet Harman supported a further welfare cut of £12billion? She should join the Tories.  She should be ashamed of herself advising her MPs to abstain.  She should have advised them to vote against it.

Chancellor George Osborn announce that he will stretch his £12billion Welfare cuts over three years instead of two years. 

It will give the people more breathing space, no doubt. but the impact is just the same. 

Stop kidding yourself and especially the public!!!!!

David Cameron supports the £12billion Welfare Cuts and admits that his MPs have found the amounts where the axe should fall.

The PM means to ‘lower welfare society’ and it is expected there will be a drastic cut across the whole welfare including tax credit for the lower paid.

Being just days after the anti-austerity march in London and other cities it looks a counter attack.

In two weeks time Chancellor George Osborne unveil the cuts in his emergency budget. Hopefully he tells the truth and all of it.

As usually the PM contemning Labour for the cost of Welfare. It is getting a bit worn out and boring after five years in office with promising austerity will bring the National debts down but the fact remains it increased by £500billion.

David Cameron does not mention that nor will he explain how it occurred. plus being graded down from seventh to sixth place.

When Gordon Brown had to face one of the biggest “credit crunch”; created by David Cameron’s friends – the Top financiers.  Yet Gordon Brown managed to come back from minus 2.5 GDB to a plus 0.5 within a year and by 2010 had a plus 1 per cent which the Tories managed to wipe it all out within three months. They never achieved the plus 1 per cent GDB.

Without a “credit crunch” the Tories managed two recessions and a downgrading but David Cameron will ignore their failure and harp on about Labour creating all the debts and huge welfare. 

Have his 95 highly paid advisers nothing else to bring to the table?  It is pathetic.

David Cameron gave a long speech in the North of England and amongst a lot of good sounding and public catching words but meaning very little if you see later the result of his actions.

He said: “We need to move from low wages, high tax and high welfare society to a high wages, low tax and low welfare society.”  As mentioned before it sounds good but the result will be a low welfare society and nothing else because his friends the manufacturing executives and owners will not paid high wages.

His words were there to make the ‘low welfare society’ more acceptable, he hopes.  The reality will be further hardship, starvation, old people dying of hypothermia and the super rich will be getting even richer, if David Cameron and the Tories are not being stopped.

The result of his always glorious sounding speeches are nothing but make belief  he even convinces himself, and trying to catch the public like he done the last five years and on the General Election with his lies and smears about Labour.

Austerity is nothing but a con. They got the UK deeper into debts with £500billion.

Tories ‘low welfare society’ for getting high wages and low tax is nothing but another con.

ISRAEL REVENGED FOR THEIR THREE PEOPLE KILLED -- Update 9 May, 2016

A new report claims that Israel is still bombing Gaza despite the cease fire agreement.  30 dead and 1,325 injured. Israel seems to have the right to ignore any law and order because the USA is standing behind them. Yet if anybody speaks of their wrong doing it is anti-Semitism. Clever way to shut everybody up.
Israel will not rest until they have the whole Palestine. There is already hardly anything left according to the maps in 1948 till now.

UPDATE: 9 October, 2015 --
It happened again!  
According to the report two Israelis  been killed and the Israeli soldiers shot four Palestinians dead. 

Again they should have been question and proven if it was them in court.

They do not need to talk about the Nazis.  There is many way to kill people. Since 1948 how many Palestinians had been killed one way or another? Look at the map from 1948 till now.  Israel took all the Palestinians. land, apart from Gaza which is blocked from the sea and the West Bank which is "occupied" by Israel. UN and US do not object about all of this.

UPDATE: 29 Sept., 2014 --   It had now been announced that Israeli troops entered the West Bank searching for their three missing youths. On the 18 July they found a grave of  three dead near Hebron. They also found Hamas people barricaded and broke down the door. There were the two accused supposedly killing the three youths. Israelis shot them dead. No date was given of that occasion.  The supposedly accused should have been arrested or injured  to bring them into court. If Israel knew they were in the West Bank all the time why were they bombing Gaza almost into the ground? Both incidents should be questioned and investigated but will it? There was not even a condemnation voiced by the USA and West. After all over 2000 people, mostly civilians were killed and 19,000 homes destroyed.  It does not justify.


UPDATE: 3 September, 2014 -- Barely a few days after the agreed cease fire between Israel and Gaza. Israel planed to occupy a large piece of land from the West Bank as revenge of the three killed Israelis. The West Bank was  conquered during the six-day war 1967 from Jordan. A peace treaty was signed between Palestine and Israel whereby Israel had to give Gaza and the West Bank back to the Palestinian people. Now, two days ago Israel took 800 hectare from the West Bank. The US criticised it but that was all. Israel will just ignore it like any other criticism and carried on as it always did during the last decades. No sanctions there.


UPDATED: 18 August, 2014 --  Now Israel extended the truce for another  five days. The other day there was a small post in the newspaper that the three Israelis who lost their at the beginning of the all out attack by Israel where supposedly killed by Mossad. Mossad is the secret agents of Israel.  If that can be proven then Israel is in real hot water.


UPDATED:  7 August, 2014 -- Israel is offering, all of a sudden, extension of further three days ceasefire.  After all the recent hard stand from Israel it came as a surprise. Is it that they realise the public are not afraid to stand up and go into action of boycotting Israeli goods or are they restocking  their weaponry? Whatever the reason the public will not be taken in so easily.


UPDATE: 3 August, 2014  --  Israel claimed that a soldier was missing assumed captured by Hamas and it is reason for continuation of bombing Gaza.  Now, on Sunday it emerged that the soldier was killed in action. Surely Israel knew about the real fact. Therefore the fabricated story served as a reason to destroy and kill more people. What about the three murdered teenager which started Israel to bomb Gaza? Where they killed by Hamas? Whatever the truth 1,800 dead and 3,000 injured would be more than a reason to stop bombing. As Israel can see the leaders might agree with it but most of the general public is getting against it and now campaigning not to buy Israeli goods. Any goods with the bar code starting 729 will be rejected. It is slow but an effective campaign to show the disgust of Israel's actions.  Their systematically bombing of people who are sitting ducks is wrong.


UPDATE:  31 July, 2014  --  Since Israel now concentrates on finding and destroying the tunnel the Palestinians built could they not stop bombing? They just could find the tunnels and either barricade them or closed them with tonnes of concrete. At least they would not kill civilians. But at the same time they have to stop blockade their harbour.  At all the people have to get supplies.  They cannot starve them out. 


Surely by now Israel revenged their three people more than enough and could and should stop destroying Gaza and killing its people.  The Palestinian people have also a right to live somewhere. On Monday they intensified bombing and 100 people were killed.

So far, over the years, the world felt always sorry for the Jews and therefore for Israel because of the holocaust which was wrong. When the Jewish people was given the promised land by the Allies in 1945 Palestine already lost a lot of their homeland. But ever since Israel instead of being the most peace loving country and happy to have eventually their promised land kept on fighting and gained more land. Israel has to face it that other nation also want to live in their country and without losing constantly some areas.

Israel first gave the reason for attacking Gaza because three Israelis were found dead. They bombarded Gaza relentlessly and now the death toll stands at 1,200 with over 3,500 injured. Israel so far had 83 killed. It shows more than enough the unequal fight. Now it gives the reason for fighting to destroy the tunnels which people built under Gaza. These tunnels are not a surprise after the Israelis blockaded the Gaza Strip ever since they had to give it back. Is it not the real reason?  Israel tried to starve the Palestinians into submission by blockading their ports.

Israel has by far the more sophisticated weapon and a dome built, financed by the USA, which prevents any missiles hitting the capital.  We must keep in focus that Palestinian people can not escape the attacks from air, ground and sea because their borders are closed. They are sitting ducks which makes the whole operation most unfair. Even the UN had declared it an illegitimate war.

In spite of John Kerry of the USA rushing from one meeting to another to achieve a ceasefire Israel announced that they will keep on fighting for a long time. They also announce a plan to increase the bombardment and call up the reservist of the army. Does that mean they want to completely flatten Gaza and wipe the people out? That picture seems to emerge slowly.

USA was always the main support for Israel and closed their eyes that Israel has chemical weapons and nuclear once which they absolutely condemn in any other countries. Look at the uproar about Syria when the chemical weapons were revealed and it nearly got us into a third World War. USA also keeps criticising Iran and North Korea.

USA John Kerry apparently received quite a short meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu because even the USA seems not to agree fully with the continuous bombardment, invasion of the ground force and shelling from the sea. Mr Kerry was even accused to side with Hamas because he is trying hard to bring about  a ceasefire. This shows and proves the attitude of Israel. All Israel's actions will eventually lose the sympathy from other nation and the people. They should be aware that it started already and if the bombardment goes on it will grow.

Israel for their own good should think about not riding the high waves so much. There is always some other power about which might be just as powerful or even more. Right through history you can see nations and countries rising to power and then rolling over others. The same history also shows they did get defeated eventually.

Why can't people just be happy with what they got and sit back an enjoy it? It would avoid all this bloodshed.

Update 19 May, 2017 --
Mme May puts now the final nail in their coffin. She included in her election manifesto to cut Winter Fuel Payments which were up to £300 each winter, introduced by Labour. It includes mainly the rich which is agreeable but for the poorer pensioners she introduces a means-test and anyone can guess how it will end. The tenths of thousands of pensioners already died of hyperthermia despite Winter Fuel pay but energy tariffs multiplied they still had to keep their heating down. Apparently; it does not mean anything to Mme May and her Tory Party.

UPDATE: 8 Jan., 2016 - Every winter newspapers announce a severe spell of frost and warn the elderly to wrap-up warm instead going for Mr Cameron and the energy supplier to reduce the tariffs.  At least for the elderly so they are not scared to use heating. No matter how warm you wrap-up the cold gets through eventually.

UPDATE: 3 June,2015 -- During the winter 2014/15 the Guardian reported that 40,000 people died of hypothermia. It was the highest number for 15 years. Yet, the Government is still planning to cut £12billion off Welfare.

UPDATE:  2 February 2015 -- The Daily Express reported that during the winter 2013/14 which was  a mild winter 20,000 old people died of hypothermia.  How can this government and the big six energy provider live with themselves knowing their death is due to them? 

UPDATE: 15 Sept., 2014 -- So far we have not heard anything of the six major energy suppliers for another rise but it does not mean it will not come. The watchdog Ofgem has the power to fine them up  to 10 per cent which was exactly the amount the energy giants increased the bills. Why were they not using their power? It would have cut down the energy giants and gave them something to think about. As much as the public were revolting and complaining because they are up to their neck in hardship; PM David Cameron did nothing. Well, let's see what happen this winter now.

UPDATE:  19 August 2013  --  Winter is coming and the energy suppliers already announcing another rise. One suggested up to 10 per cent which was also the last rise in tariffs. People were already more than struggling before the last rise and the Government promised but did not intervene. After the last rise the poor had to balance between buying food and paying the bills. It is impossible to imagine what will happen if this rise goes through?


UPDATE:  27 February 2013 -- It had already been announced that there will be another rise in energy bills because they have to buy so much dearer from other countries. When they want to raise the tariffs they always find a good reason. 

As long as the government can blame somebody or something they feel righteous. This time it is the green energy policy which they blame increases the energy bills. No wait a minute shouldn’t green energy policies bring the bills down? The ugly wind turbines are not half as effective as it was promised. So why still invest in them. The solar panels are far cheaper to install and won’t ruin the landscape. The government wouldn’t blame or point at the high profit the energy giants making.

On Thursday the clever government released the statistics while everybody concentrated on the Leveson’s report. They certainly know how to fox us. In spite of the fact the people die more in the winter of cold, flu and other illnesses the statistic showed that in the last winter there were 24,000 more death because of cold.  Most of the deaths -19,500 – were over 75.

Since 1950s the number of dead were gradually reduced because of better medical care and heating. In the last winter it is increased again. It accounts for colder winter and higher energy cost which the elderly just can’t effort it.

According to Ofgem green subsidies and levies added four per cent to gas prices and 10 per cent to electricity. Subsidising the renewable energy such as wind turbines adds £21 a year. Subsidising insulation schemes adds £52. It was wrong from the government in the first place just to decide and add this cost on without asking the public. Apparently there supposed to be a democracy. Nobody wants the wind turbines and regarding the insulation so many people asking but all they get is an excuse for not to do it. Yet we have to pay £52 whether we get it or not. Where does that money go since the majority of the work is not carried out?

Another cost is added on by the EU’s emission trading scheme. It forces power companies to buy permits to burn fossil fuels.

When confronting the government with all these unjust addition their reply is pensioners receive a winter fuel payment. This is not the answer to the problem giving back in winter fuel payments which were charged already on the energy bills. Therefore, it is not a great help to pensioners.

America put up huge solar panels which are far more effective and productive than wind farms. The same could put to encourage the public to install solar panels on top of their houses.

Whatever they decide it is high time they do something about these high energy prices. Whether they make the energy giants to cut their profits or go ahead with exploring the shale gas but a decision has to be made.  The subsidies making the landowners and the wind farm owners rich and again everybody is paying for it, even pensioners.

It seems this government finds all sorts of ways for their friends to fill their pocket while we, like sitting ducks, have to pay for it.

IT IS HIGH TIME THAT THE GOVERNMENT TREATS PENSIONERS WITH RESPECT NOT LIKE DEAD WOOD HOPING IT PERISH SOON. THESE PEOPLE GAVE EVERYTHING IN THE LAST WAR. THAT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN AND THEY DESERVE EVERY COMFORT IN THEIR OLD AGE.

SUMMARY   Although almost a decade ago but Osborne's vicious and deadly cuts still effects people and Councils. Now he departs to an even more lucrative job joining Bankers while he left UK in the worst financial crisis but CONservatives will blame it on Covid.  

Update 30 Jan., 2018 -- May keeps ex-Chancellor George Osborne planned £12bn Welfare cuts and started it on 1 April, 2017 plus £16bn Public Service cuts. Why has she sacked him when she still follows his plans?

By now 4,000 Disabled People died by suicide or starvation. 

She also wants to start the Universal Credit (UC) but the date gets postponed. In some counties it has been introduced and it causes chaos and hardship and suicides. May still insists of spreading it right across. The problem is that there is no payment for 5 weeks.  ????

Ian Duncan Smith did resign, George Osborn got sacked as Chancellor and David Cameron resign but PM May still let their Disability Benefit cuts start on 1 April, 2017. It means Disabled people receive £70 per week instead of £100 pw. There will be more death of starvation and suicides!

Nobody can live on £70 a week - paying bills, buying food and heat the home !!!!!!

Although David Cameron resigned and even left Parliament there will  be no change under the new Tory Prime Minister Theresa May. It might get even worse and it has!!

It was assumed over 1,000 disabled people died since they had been forced back to work and their benefits were  cut. People were left with hardly or no money at all. They committed suicide or starved to death.

Now the true figure, and it is hoped it is true,  is over 2,300 up till 2012 and that in the 21st century and UK the sixth richest country while IDS hands out a £44million bonus.  He ought to be sacked.

To crown it all Ian Duncan Smith, Head of the Department of Welfare and Pensions, sent out leaflets of false statements from non-existing people that they were glad to have their benefits 
cut because it forces them to make a greater effort to find work.


David Cameron excels himself by posing with charities and giving great sounding speeches but the reality tells a different story.  While he is posing and smiling into the camera he is cutting the most vulnerable's benefit. That how sincere he is.

UPDATED: 17 December, 2014 --  Atos lost its contract because they have a backlog of 700,000 applications for assessment. It is not know whether these disabled people are still receiving some money. The government handed out a new contract to Maximus which is an American company but already had been in court for discrimination of disabled people and fraud. How can David Cameron employ a company like that?  Has he got any principles and respect?

UPDATE 19 OCTOBER 2012 --- By now the statics show around a 1,000 died. It might not all of them purely related to be forced back to work but surely a great number of them had an earlier death due to extra strain on their health and worries.

Since this scheme began of forcing disabled people back to work a statement shows that 32 disabled people died. Well done Government especially Prime Minister David Cameron while he is floundering around from one summit to another including vanishing to visit vineyards and all on taxpayers’ money. He can’t even fly first class and hires a private yet again all on taxpayers’ money and when he returns he claims every existing and non-existing expenses.

They were assessed by doctors paid by the private health service Atos French Company) which in turn is paid by the government costing just billions of pounds. The doctors were told they should certify only one in eight not to be able to work again.

Labour’s shadow energy minister Tom Greater asking the question how Atos could get it so wrong. These people died within a few weeks after being force back to work. They ought to be ashamed to make these people go through a tortuous procedure to reverse the assessment.

On revelation of these terrible loss of lives and only because the government wanted to save £10billion from the benefit bill a review by health specialist Prof Malcolm Harrington CBE suggested a change. He requested a testing which makes it fairer and humane. His suggestion was not taken up, of course not. At the end he was even requested to step down as a government adviser. It seems more and more the government getting tough and regardless.

Ministers agreed that a “fresh pair of eyes “ are needed but by the look of things happen in the recent past it will not be agreed on by the top men because it would cut down their scheme saving £10billion

Apparently the LibDem announced a fight to stop this crazy idea.

This is a terrible result showing 32 disabled people dying within a few weeks. We ask again how the Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor George Osborne, at least he was poohed by 80,000 and should have got the message, and the rest of his friends can sit there seeing these people struggling with an heroic effort and cut their Disability Benefit? They live in a life of luxury and have no idea what ordinary life is like especially for disabled people and yet they calmly wilding the axe. What kind of human beings are they?  Yet they fiddled they way in with riding on bikes pretending they are ordinary people, the limousines were following them with briefcase, and now they show their real faces and it will get worse.

They have the shortest working time and yet they tell everyone to work and work harder.

DOCTORS SPEED-UP DEATH FOR ELDERLY

A group of doctors revealed to save cost elderly patients could be denied food and water to speed-up death.

Tens of thousand of terminal ill patients are put on the Department of Health. This includes a Liverpool Care Pathway but contrary to its title it is scheme it suppose to speed-up death.

The idea of LCP is to withhold fluid and drugs from patients in their final days. To withhold fluid is worse than withholding food.  As everybody knows to be thirsty is real torture. To withhold drugs could lead to agony when the patient has pains. Both methods are inhuman.

It is also assumed that this method could be extended merely to free beds and a group of six Care Doctors for the elderly have that suspicion.

These six doctors also say that older people are often free of pain and distress and therefore there is no need for LCP. They claim further not all doctors asking the patients and try to get consent while the patient is still capable to decide. In view of this lucking to do their job properly many patients carry a card stating that they do not want that treatment.

Dr Clifford Craig said: “If you are a cynical about it, as I am, you can see it is a cost-cutting measure, if you don’t want to have you beds filled with old people.” This warning came after Professor Patrick  Pullicino quoted a fine example when he took a 71 year old patients suffering from pneumonia off LCP and he lived for another 14 months.  He titled the scheme as “assisted death pathway rather than care pathway.”

The health department responded with that the LCP is not about saving money. They would say that under the present government trying to privatise the National Health Service. Although they deny this too and call it reform the NHS.  The Health Secretary Andrew Lansley is still denying it and at the same time he appointed Naguib Kheraj. He is a banker and was a top man at Barclays during the cheating libor (interest rates fixing when one bank loans to another). That tells you everything on both accounts.
